Cinco De Mayo Events – Los Angeles 2026

                                                        By: Reggie Webb

The month of May is one of the more festive months of the year. People celebrate Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, and Cinco De Mayo, which kicks the month of May off with a bang. Although Cinco De Mayo is May 5th, which falls on a Tuesday this year, many of the celebrations will start May 1st and continue throughout the weekend leading up to the holiday itself. Cinco De Mayo became a symbol of resistance in 1862, when the Mexican Army defeated French forces at The Battle of Puebla. This unlikely victory was led by General Ignacio Zargoza and, for the last 150+ years, this day has been a major staple in Mexican history.

The Mexican population is the largest ethnic group in Los Angeles County, with roughly 3.4 million people of Mexican heritage living throughout the county. Seventy to seventy-five percent of the county’s 4.7 million Hispanic residents are Mexican, so you can imagine the amount of celebrations that will be going on from festivals, parties, concerts, etc., during this holiday. Throughout the city and county of Los Angeles the richness of Mexican culture will be on display for all to enjoy and experience the festivities. Now, let’s get into a few of the places you can go to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

Historical Venice Cinco De Mayo Parade

The Cinco De Mayo parade, in Venice, will take place this year on May 2, 2026. This parade has a 59 year history of celebrating the Mexican-American heritage and culture in the city of Venice. The parade originated in the 1960’s during the Chicano movements, founded by community members that were advocating for equal opportunities for Hispanic residents in the Venice area. The parade has a 10:00 am start time at the intersection of California Ave. & Lincoln Blvd. During the parade you will see classic iconic cars, low rider clubs, Aztec dancers, Mariachi Bands, folklorico dancers, Charros (Mexican Cowboys), majestic horses, local high school bands, specialized floats, and community leaders. The route of the parade will proceed along California Ave until the procession reaches Oakwood Park. The festivities continue at the park with live performances, several Mexican food trucks, dancers, arts & crafts, pinata games, vendors, and local city council members. This historical event is organized by Laura Ceballos, a community organizer, chicana activist, and a native to the city of Venice.

On Sunday May 3rd, 12pm-6pm at 125 De La Plaza in DTLA, get ready to experience the vibrant energy of a historical Cinco De Mayo event. This is an all day event that features live music, authentic Mexican food, cultural displays, vendor stalls, local and national musicians. So, with that type of history of course this festival will bring that ancestral celebratory feeling throughout the day. This event is organized by B Group Entertainment, they are known for hosting events that promote togetherness and unity.
