LIFE LOVE & LUXURIES with TROY L. RAWLINGS

I am a proud “Morning Person” y’all! For Real! I’ve always loved Daytime. I mean, nightlife was cool when it was forbidden. Like my high school days, when hanging out late meant you were mature and were about to get into some mischief. The good ole days. But now, I start yawning about 9:45PM and by 10:30PM I want to be in bed or on the way home. Well, let me be clear; it’s my preference to be in bed by 10:30PM because I’m an early riser. I’m usually up by 4 or 5 AM to start my day.

And I do recognize that some of you reading this are “Night Owls”. You love the nightlife, you love to boogay! You work during the day and save your evenings for your socializing time. You’re groggy during the weekdays, while working, and busy during nights and weekends. So, you live for that nightlife, when you can slide it in.

Let me tell you, there’s nothing like a good daytime getaway to brighten up your day. Not necessarily a Day-Party and a bit livelier than just lunch. Not necessarily breakfast or lunch. “WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TROY??”

I’m talking about creating fun, flirty, delicious excursions while the Sun is shining!! Here’s a few ways to get your Day-Date poppin’:

MORNING WALKS

If you live in a scenic place like Los Angeles, a brisk morning walk is a perfect day-date scenario. This doesn’t only require like-mindedness, it requires like schedules. It’s always a good idea to connect with people you can actually connect with time wise. Morning walks are a great way to talk, and get your fitness in without too much over exertion. You can decide if you want a chill walk, hills, track, or even hiking. And afterwards you can do one of my other favorite daytime activities…

LOCAL BARISTA

I love a nice cup of Jo in the morning. Especially after a nice walk. Finding the best Cafe for coffee or breakfast after a brisk walk, or by itself, is a great way to start the day with a friend. Big meals are cool, but coffee or a lite breakfast gives you a chance to talk while you’re wide awake and refreshed. I’m a foodie; so I’m moaning more than talking over a good meal. And if wine is involved, I’m relaxed at the table and ready for sleep. The coffee or tea daytime cafe date is the perfect ice-breaker.

BB KING & QUEEN OUTING

That’s right. A Brown Bag Date for lunch. Now this is much more intimate than it sounds. To make this really special, you have to find out your friend’s favorite old-school, or present, sandwich and snack. Yes. And you have to tell them yours. Decide where outside; a museum courtyard, beach, park, cemetery…yes, the nice cemeteries have gorgeous landscapes…ask wedding photographers.

And when you meet, you trade bags. This is deeper than you can imagine. And you’ll be able to tell how much your friend listens to your likes and dislikes.

These are just some, very chill, Daytime dating ideas. But I would LOVE to hear yours! No matter how affordable or expensive, let me know in the comment section.

Because in LA, even the mornings have swagger. Whether you’re strolling through Leimert Park or sipping a caramel oat latte at Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, the city’s sunshine always finds a way to flirt back.
